Rendezvous With Rekha This Sunday
518 ViewsLast time Rekha appeared on ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’ a couple of years ago she earned a lot of bad press for weird observations about life. So, what kind of flutters will she create this time around as she appears once again on Simi’s pristine white show this Sunday on Star World. She is a diva alright and with Aishwariya coming in for a severe backlash for her cosmetic portrayal of ‘Umrao Jaan’ Rekha, the original ‘Umrao’ is very much in news. And that too for all the right reasons.
I hope Simi asks her about her acting supremacy rather than her eternal Amitabh Bachchan hangover. Fine, she shared a special relationship with Big B but then having been in four marriages and numerous other men that she courted, it’s time she got over that AB fixation. Somehow she tends to bring in Jaya Bachchan in her conversation too and that too in a frivolous manner.
It’s time Rekha realized that she is a strong willed woman who has survived the onslaught of time courageously. She deserves all the applause for her acting prowess as well as the fact that she has managed to live on her own terms (Not an easy task). But her love affair with Amitabh Bachchan is an old story and why stoke an old flame again and again! It doesn’t even make for a good story any more.

You are totally wrong. Viewers and readers alike are never bored of Rekha aunty and Amitabh uncle’s fiery love story. And a decade later it would still be as fresh as the sweet fragrance of the Jasmine flowers. Talk about Amitabh and Rekha comes to mind immediately and vice-versa. They are inseparable names. And their pairing is like the choli-daaman.
Explain one thing…if journalists think that the Rekha-Amitabh story is an end of the chapter, then why do they focus the camera on Rekha when Amitabh receives his award at any awards function and vice-versa. Simi Gerewal (that nude from Raj Kapoor’s Mera Naam Joker)has nothing to hide and would look like a joker if she doesn’t ask a question or two about the Rekha-Amitabh fiery love story and Jaya Bachchan can miss that episode of “Rendezvous” and watch Yash Chopra’s “Silsila” instead.

Rekha and Amitabh are legendary lovers and their pairing is perfect. Amitabh is doing hundreds of films with likes of Hema Malini, Revathi, and other nameless creatures, but not one single film with Rekha, especially considering that they made an amazing pair (with or without The affair). Isn’t that guilt conscience or what? If they had nothing to hide, then whay can’t they act in movies together?
